Haibun

                                                          MIGRAINE

It comes on quickly. Pain above my eyes. Intense. Sharp. Carving my head into splinters. Producing nausea. Swallow a couple of pills. Retreat to a darkened room, a cold cloth on my forehead.  Breathe. Concentrate on nothing else. Just breathe.

                                                         shooting stars
                                                         watching with held breath
                                                         I forget to wish

Wow, very effectively written - the prose and the haiku with it.

Thanks Gillena and Janet. Fortunately, it's been years since I've had any kind of a headache. Now I have arthritis pain, but not headaches. Funny, how the body changes.

Ahhh... a quiet room!
__So glad your headaches have sailed away; I'm only 73, but my arthritis too, seems to be mooring deeply.
__Nifty haibun, too much pain to remember the wish, to avoid the pain_! _m
