STROLLING NAXOS
the Portara Arch
leading to the sea
and the ancient past
the known and the unknown
stories of lives lived
stray cats
slinking through ourdoor cafes
yellow eyes alert
our presence watched for signs
of sympathy or carelessness
and old door
warped and splintered
the hinges rusty
a picture framed
with pink oleander
Modern English Tanka
