Haibun

In the Eye of the Beholder

Bath time for my two year old daughter. Soapy and slippery. Giggling, she splashes water on me. I’m in an old robe, no makeup, my hair in curlers.  As I towel her dry, she puts her arms around me and says, “Mommy, you’re beautiful.”

Thank you Doug and Mary. That little girl now has a 22 year old son. Time goes too fast!

I like the the soapy story, it just proves that children see with all their senses.

As a lover of all things wild, one of the nicest things that happened to me this year--discovering northern willow herb down by our pond.

Thanks, Sandy. What do you do with northern willow herb? Make tea?
